Day 4: 29/12 – Salamander Bay to Tanilba Bay:

Woke up to a cloudy day. After breakfast we took the Jolle to Anchorage Marina to look around. No coffee place near but a great marina and hotel. Had lunch onboard and then a nice afternoon onboard.
Left the anchorage in the afternoon and motored west past Soldiers point into the west end of Port Stephens and anchored in Tanilba Bay. Only 3 m deep and fairly protected from the Southerly wind.

Day 5: 30/12 – Tanilba Bay to Fame Cove:

Woke to a great cloud formation. We all had a morning dip in lovely 24 c water. After breakfast we went ashore to walk on the board walk in Tilligerry Habitat – a place to see the local koalas. We only saw a few kookaburras.
On our way back towards the Jolle we saw dolphins in the bay, between us and RaRa.
In the afternoon the wind picked up as did the rain and we decided to head north for a new anchorage. Went into Fame Cove and got a guest mooring. A beautiful little cove, very sheltered from all winds (probably not West..). There are 5 guest moorings here but also very good anchorage in 5-6 m.

Day 6: New Year’s Eve! Fame cove
We went for a ride in Jolle up Nanabah creek. It was high tide and very beautiful.
The day was rainy but calm and we pottered about around in the boat. The sun came out for the afternoon, just in time for drinks. We were given a cluster of oyster from the closest shore by our boat neighbour. Sat at the back of the cockpit eating freshly shucked oysters and drank champagne.

Oysters from the cove

Dinner and games night until midnight. Happy New Year!
