13-16 April 2020 : Holiday week

13/4: Easter Monday: Arrived at the marina on the boat at 11. Packed away stuff, did some maintenance and had lunch. In the afternoon we set off onto the Harbour

Set sail outside Chinamans beach and sailed south down the harbour. A nice breeze. Found a pinky in Atol bay where we stayed the night. It is a wonderful spot to watch the sunset and night sky over the city. Damp and somewhat cooler in the evening and we had dinner down below.

14/4: Tuesday – first day on our holiday. Woke up to a beautiful day. Morning swim as the sun came over Bradley’s head and then breakfast in the cockpit. Stayed until after lunch, swimming, rowing, relaxing and having a great day.

Sailed off the mooring in very light winds and headed west under the Harbour bridge to Berrys bay. Anchored and planned to take a trip home in Waverton but decided not to. Motored back east to Rose bay where we found a pinky for the night. Another stunning sunset and dinner below.

15/4: Wednesday – A great morning with little wind and some swimming. Sanna saw a little penguin next to the boat. After a late breakfast and Fia onboard we Sailed off the mooring with Oliver at the helm. Wind picked up nicely and we had a 10-15 knot NW as we sailed north down the harbour towards Quarantine station. No pinky here so we continued in towards Manly. No pinky free in Manly but we anchored just outside. Rowed ashore and went to buy some food from Aldi.

Back on the boat we enjoyed a lovely evening with an early dinner outside as the last rays of sunshine dipped behind Fairlight. Niclas had a meeting online afterwards. The evening was warmer and not so damp. Finished the evening by watching a movie together.

16/4: Thursday – a warmer day with hardly any wind. After morning swim and breakfast we motored back to MHYC to be there to potentially meetup with a guy who can have a look at our water heater which is leaking.

Staying on the boat for an extended time has given us valuable opportunities to get to know the boat better, check where leaks are coming from and how things work. There are a few things that we need to get done in the near future which we need to prioritise.
