Chilling at Fraser Island and preparing for a longer break

30 April – 9th of May

A few windy (and at times rainy) days followed and we moved on from Kingfisher Bay to explore the western side of Fraser Island north of us. Our first stop was Wathumba Creek, 32NM from Kingfisher, which we heard had a beautiful lagoon of very clear water and full of Rays. We did actually spot a ray, but the water in the lagoon was a bit murky.

Wathumba wasn’t very protected against the strong SE wind blowing, so we moved a little bit further south to around Arch Cliffs which had higher hills and much better protection. There we spent a couple of relaxing days just hanging out and not doing much. It was a mix of rain and sunshine and we did get caught out in the rain a couple of times.

On the 7th of May we motor-sailed 22NM to Hervey Bay where we have a marina berth for the time we will be away in Europe. We did a lot of cleaning and preparation of RaRa, including some sail repairs we handled ourselves and contacting a shipwright to get leaking windows re-glued.
