Penguins in the harbour, 27-28 February 2021

Little fairy penguins

Saturday 27 February: With a race free Saturday we arrived at the boat after lunch and left the dock. We motored over to Quarantine Station to meet up with our friends on Eternity. As we waited for them to finish lunch, we went sailing in very light winds. As we passed Middle head there were two little fairy penguins relaxing in the water. They leave the breeding place end of February and return again in May.

We met Wailea as they returned from the offshore race and then met up with Eternity and went for a short sail before we moored up on their mooring in Balmoral for the night.

Sunday 28 February: We were woken at about 4 am by the battery alarm letting us know the house batteries were flat. Disconnected the charging and went back to sleep. A beautiful morning with a lot of swimmers in the water around us. Niclas and Sanna had a lovely morning swim off the boat and after breakfast we headed back to the marina (luckily our starter batteries worked) to fix the problem with the batteries. The rest of the day was spent in the marina fixing stuff and just relaxing.
