Summer sailing : Return to Sydney Day 15

9/1 Saturday:

Rain squall as we were waiting to exit Lake Macquarie

We woke up early to make the 08.00 bridge opening in Swansea. Left the anchorage at 07.07 and motored across the Lake. Three motorboats and one sailing boat ahead of us to get out. It was exciting to go through the channel and the death reading got to 1.7 this time. As we approached the bridge at 7.55 the rain hit and as we passed through the open bridge the rainbow appeared.

We got out onto the sea at 8.30 and set sail south. Motored on and off all day. The wind was SE with 15-20 knots to start with and then getting lighter as we approached Sydney. The sun was shining and the swell was a SE one about 2 metres. We had a great day. Arrived at north head at 18.00 and then back at MHYC just before 19.00.

After a a shower we had dinner with our friends onboard their boat Eternity at the marina. We then stayed the night on RaRa.

Sunday 10/1: Day 16 onboard: MHYC

Woke up to an amazing blue sky, sunny and warm day. After breakfast at the Sandbar we spent the day packing up the boat and fixing a few issues with the head. Went on over to Clontarf to pump out. Washed the boat, it had gotten very salty after the passage from Lake Macquarie.

Stayed the whole day onboard and left to go home in the afternoon.
