5-6 December: On the harbour

Saturday: Sanna and Oliver had things to do at home and Niclas sailed Wailea so we all met up on RaRa at 17.30. We left MHYC just after 6 pm and motored away. The rain started and we moored on a guest mooring at Chinamans beach. Not far from the marina but a lovely place to stay the night.

The rain picked up but it was nice and warm and we had dinner in the cockpit but under cover and stayed dry. Though the rain got heavier with thunder and lightning in the distant. Spent the evening in the saloon playing a board game.

Sunday: Woke up to a beautiful day.

We stayed on the mooring until after lunch. The weather was beautiful and the bay filled up with various craft. A lot of interesting anchoring attempts by other boats.

Niclas and Oliver went ashore to the little beach and went for a snorkel 🤿

After lunch we sailed out through the heads. The wind picked up and we had a lovely sail with only the headsail up. On our return back in, we met three large navy ships heading out to sea. With them and two manly ferries to give way to it all got somewhat exciting – especially with a strong westerly. All good and we had a great sail back home.

There is a huge amount of different boats out on a sunny day. Here is a selection of what comes around. From small sailing boats to large ones, very big motor yachts to small versions. Canoes and paddle boards.
