8 June 2020 whale watching

Sunday 8 June: We arrived at the boat at 11 and left the marina at 11.30. Set sail outside Clontarf and sailed East in a W wind. Sailed out of the heads. The sun was shining and pretty nice weather. Saw some whales on the horizon but did not go that far in pursuit. Had lunch under sails and then we where joined by 3-4 humpback whales. They swam alongside us for a while, between us and East side of north head. When we tacked they disappeared for a while, which made us a little anxious – they are large animals. Then they came up again. The closest we saw them was 16-20 meters away.

We then headed back to the marina, packed up and went home.
